I Need Fan Questions for Character Interviews   Leave a comment

Now that Magebound is practically published (I’m waiting on Amazon and Smashwords to do their part; I will probably be able to post links tomorrow) I want to do character interviews as part of my promo, like I did with Breach. I also want to include questions from fans, so if there’s anything you’ve ever wanted to ask Lark, Naeven, or Schaff, now is your chance. Silly or serious, leave your question in a comment and be to sure to say who the question is directed at.

If I don’t get any, I’ll just have to make some up, but I guarantee they won’t be as good as yours. ^_^

Breach Release Party – 3 Days To Go!   1 comment

Author Katica Locke Interviews Sheriff Kavrak

Katica Locke: Hello everyone! Just three more days until the release of Breach. Oh, this is so exciting! And today I am thrilled to introduce on of the more mysterious characters in the story. Please help me welcome Sheriff Kavrak to the blog. Welcome, Sheriff.

Sheriff Kavrak: Thank you for inviting me, Ms. Locke.

KL: Please, you can call me Katica.

SK: (pauses) I would rather not, Ms. Locke.

KL: Okay, as you like. Sheriff, I was wondering what it was like to be the only dracorian in a town of primarily humans. Do you ever get lonely?

SK: No.

KL: Do you like being around humans?

SK: I neither like nor dislike it.

KL: Okay…What’s your favorite color?

SK: I do not have a favorite color.

KL: You’re not making this easy on me, are you?

SK: I apologize, Ms. Locke. It was not my intention to be difficult.

KL: (sighs) No, I don’t imagine it was. All right, Sheriff, what made you decide to become the sheriff of Devaen? I’m sure you could have picked just about any town on the planet.

SK: Yes, I considered fifty-seven positions, many in larger cities, with more prestige and higher pay, but in the end, I chose Devaen because of Ishaan Darvis.

KL: Can you explain?

SK: Mr. Darvis was an unusual case, presenting as much danger to the town as the town did to him, with neither party to blame for their actions, but with both needing to be held accountable. It offered the challenge I was looking for.

KL: Thank you, Sheriff, that was very enlightening. Just one more question: I’m thinking about doing a story about a gay dracorian–

SK: With all due respect, Ms. Locke–No.

KL: No?

SK: No.

KL: Okay. Thank you again, Sheriff Kavrak.

SK: It was my honor, Ms. Locke.

Breach Release Party – 4 Days To Go   1 comment

No worries, I’ve calmed down, lol. I’m still annoyed at B&N, but everything else is okay, and I’m sure that will get fixed soon, too. Please excuse my little panic attack yesterday. I guess this book release has me more stressed than I thought I was, lol. But really, everything’s okay now, thanks. ^_^

This has be my favorite interview. 😀

Author Katica Locke Interviews Kethic Echarn

Katica Locke: Hello again! Today I have the honor of introducing one of my favorite characters from Breach, Kethic Echarn. Welcome, Kethic.

Kethic Echarn: Thanks, Katica. Great to be here.

KL: So, Kethic, both your brother and Ishaan expressed some concern about their portrayal in the book, namely how graphically their mistakes and poor choices were depicted. You make some mistakes, too. Are you at all concerned?

KE: Not really. Everybody makes mistakes. You do the wrong thing for the right reason, and people are usually willing to forgive you.

KL: Well said. Now, I have a few questions–

KE: Mind if I ask one first?

KL: Um…all right.

KE: Do you feel like a voyeur, writing down our most intimate moments?

KL: (blushes) Well, I’ve never really thought about it like that–

KE: Does it turn you on, writing about my brother and his husband getting kinky on their honeymoon?

KL: I– That’s– You– That is entirely inappropriate, Mr. Echarn! I’ll be asking the questions from now on, or this interview is over.

KE: (smirks) That’s a big, fat ‘Yes’ if I ever heard one.

KL: (stands up)

KE: Okay, okay, I’m sorry. I’ll shut up.

KL: Not soon enough. (sits down) Now, what’s your favorite color?

KE: Whatever color panties my wife is wearing.

KL: Favorite food?

KE: Whatever my wife is cooking.

KL: (annoyed) All right, Kethic–last question: You went to jail several years ago. What was that like and how did you keep your incubism a secret?

KE: It wasn’t that hard. I was in the minimum security facility for non-violent offenders. Believe it or not, I was one of the worst in there. Most of the guys were just looking for something–or someone–to do to pass the time, so feeding wasn’t an issue. Now, if it had been prison, in with the murderers and rapists and violent criminals, well, that would have been another story. Hey, maybe you could write it.

KL: Like I need any more ideas.

KE: Could be a bestseller.

KL: Look at that, we’re out of time. Thank you, Kethic, for stopping by.

KE: Any time, Katica.

Author Katica Locke Interviews Sezae and Isha Mishal

Katica Locke: Hello everyone! Please help me welcome two very special guests to the blog today, Sezae Mishal and her daughter Isha. It’s great to have you.

Sezae Mishal: Thank you, Katica. It’s very exciting to be here. I still can’t believe Ishaan and Roan had a book written about them.

KL: Don’t forget, the two of you are in it, too, and not just as passing characters. I’d say that you, Sezae, are directly responsible for the entire story. None of it would have happened if you hadn’t introduced Roan to Ishaan. Which leads to my first question: You had just met Roan. What made you decide that he would make a good keeper for Ishaan?

SM: You know, I’m still not sure. He just seemed…like he needed help, maybe enough to put up with Ishaan’s moodiness. I could just tell he was good person.

Isha Mishal: Ask me something!

KL: (laughs) Okay. What’s your favorite color?

IM: Pink. Or green. No, pink.

KL: And what’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

IM: Strawberry!

SM: Just like her father.

KL: Okay, Isha, I have another question for your mom. Sezae, what’s it like to run an inn in a town without electricity, running water, or indoor plumbing?

SM: It keeps us busy, that’s for sure. We have some conveniences, of course, like our magic ice box, which is a lot like Ishaan’s refrigerator. Making sure we have enough wood is the biggest worry. We burn it to heat the inn, to cook meals, to heat water for washing and baths–most of our expenses are firewood. And then there’s cleaning the rooms and washing the linens and cooking the meals and maintaining the building and tending the bar. It never ends.

KL: Sounds like a full-time job. Do you enjoy it?

SM: (pauses) I do. It wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life when I was younger, but I get to talk to travelers and hear their stories, and I have my family close, and…that’s really all I need.

KL: Thank you, Sezae. Okay, Isha–last question: What do you want to be when you grow up?

IM: A princess!

SM: (laughs) Roan’s been reading you too many of his fairy stories.

KL: Thank you, Princess Isha, and thank you again, Sezae. It was wonderful having you here.

SM: It was our pleasure.

IM: Bye, Katica!

Breach Release Party – 6 Days To Go!   Leave a comment

I am having way too much fun with this. 😛

Author Katica Locke Interviews Ishaan Darvis

Katica Locke: Hello again! Today I have another very special guest–Ishaan Darvis! Welcome to the blog, Ishaan.

Ishaan Darvis: Thank you, Ms. Locke.

KL: Please, call me Katica.

ID: Thank you, Ms– Katica.

KL: You seem a little nervous, Ishaan. Was Roan telling stories about me? (laughs)

ID: No, not at all. He’s the one who talked me into doing this.

KL: Is it the book, then? I know it’s pretty graphic.

ID: It’s very honest. Painfully honest. I guess I’m not looking forward to all the hate mail after everyone reads about what I’ve done. It hasn’t been easy to put those things behind me and move on, and now you’re dragging them back into the spotlight. It’s like I can’t escape, and now it’s going to start all over again.

KL: I think I know my readers pretty well. They might surprise you. Have a little faith. Now, I’ve got a few questions. What’s your favorite color?

ID: Blue.

KL: Favorite food?

ID: Barbecued kelret with fresh coleslaw.

KL: I’ve never had kelret. What’s it taste like?

ID: A little like rabbit, but tangier.

KL: Favorite TV show?

ID: I don’t usually watch a lot of TV, but Roan has me hooked on this gods-awful drama called Willowgrove. It’s nothing but overacting and softcore porn.

KL: (laughs) Sounds like my kind of show. Okay, one more question and then I’ll let you go: Most of my readers have never had intimate relations with anything other than a regular old human. What’s it like to have sex with an incubus?

ID: (frowns) That’s a little personal, isn’t it?

KL: Considering that all the gory details are in the book, I don’t think so.

ID: (sighs) Okay. It’s like…the best sex you’ve ever had, every night. Roan is great in bed anyway, but when he uses his tail, or his tongue…they move different than a (censored) or a finger, softer, more dexterous, more muscular–

KL: All right, I think the readers get the picture. Is it just me, or did it get hot in here? (laughs) Thank you, Ishaan. I appreciate you taking the time to talk with me.

ID: You’re welcome, Katica.

Breach Countdown – 7 Days Left   Leave a comment

Look what I’ve got – character interviews! Pure fluff and cracktastic goodness! I had so much fun writing this. 😀

Author Katica Locke Interviews Roan Echarn

Katica Locke: Hello everyone! Today I’m pleased to introduce Roan Echarn to the blog. Hello, Roan.

Roan Echarn: Hi, Katica. Thanks for inviting me.

KL: So, only a week until Breach comes out. How excited are you?

RE: Extremely excited. This is my first book, and even though you do paint an unflinching portrayal of the mistakes I made, I think the readers are going to love it.

KL: Is it hard, seeing the worst moments of your life in print and sold as entertainment?

RE: A little. It certainly wasn’t very entertaining when it was happening to me, but looking back, I can see how important the story is. It has a good message about forgiveness and acceptance. And not keeping secrets from the one you love.

KL: Very true. I don’t want to spoil the book for the readers, so I came up with some harmless personal questions. Ready?

RE: (laughs) I hope so.

KL: Favorite color?

RE: Red.

KL: Favorite food?

RE: Ishaan’s mashed potatoes and venison gravy.

KL: Sounds delicious. I know you’ve traveled a lot; what’s the most memorable place you’ve visited before you met Ishaan?

RE: Before…After is easy–it’s our honeymoon, but before…I’d have to say Evam Rune City on Ashael.

KL: I’ve been there! I just passed through on my way to Traxen. What made it so memorable for you?

RE: They have an entire mall of nothing but high-end brothels and whorehouses. I spent a month there and never had to have sex once. I could feed just by walking through the mall.

KL: Why did you leave?

RE: (shrugs) Lots of reasons. I thought my brother might be after me, and people were starting to take note of me hanging around every day, and since I wasn’t whoring to make ends meet, I had to beg, scavenge, and steal, and the last one nearly landed my in jail, so it was time to move on.

KL: It looks like we’re almost out of time as well. One more question: In the opening chapter of Breach, you mention that you were chased out of Prythaen. How did that happen?

RE: (laughs) It wasn’t nearly as dramatic as the book makes it sound. I had flirted my way into a young woman’s bed and after a mutually-enjoyable roll in the hay, her husband comes home early from work and catches us. She didn’t tell me she was married. I start to apologize, but she starts shouting that I’m ‘the demon’, that I seduced her, that I took a new form to trick her– I got the hell out of there and hopped on a passing train.

KL: Sounds to me like she has a clever excuse for her indiscretions and very gullible husband.

RE: Possibly, but there is a psychological disorder where the individual believes that anyone hitting on them is a demon, and that if they refuse the demon’s advances, they’ll be killed, or that they are put under a spell so they can’t resist, so who knows.

KL: Thank you, Roan. I’ve really enjoyed our time together.

RE: Anytime, Katica. It was my pleasure.
